About The Position

The HVAC Service Apprentice supports the Service Department by assisting experienced Service Technicians with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC systems. This role is designed as a developmental position focused on building technical skills, safety awareness, and field experience needed to advance into a Commercial HVAC Service Technician position. Apprentices work closely with technicians, supervisors, and service coordinators to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. This is a safety-sensitive role.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn commercial HVAC systems
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Ability to work in commercial and industrial environments
  • Basic computer literacy preferred (tablet or mobile device use for service documentation)
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Valid, non-expired state-issued driver's license
  • Passing a driving records check (as determined by insurer)
  • Passing a criminal history check
  • Passing a drug test
  • Meeting employment eligibility requirements under Form I-9 to work in the United States
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor environments
  • Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, and reach as required
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment
  • Visual ability to read gauges, wiring diagrams, and equipment labels

Responsibilities

  • Assist Service Technicians with preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of rooftop units, air handlers, boilers, chillers, and related systems
  • Assist with system inspections, diagnostics, and routine service tasks
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Load, unload, and organize tools and materials for service calls
  • Communicate job progress and observations to supervising technicians
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • Participate in hands-on technical training and skill development
  • Assist with inventory, vehicle organization, and equipment maintenance
  • Work toward industry certifications and technical competency
  • Represent the company professionally on job sites
