Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in high-voltage substation and transmission line project management, with experience on 500kV projects.
  • Proven success managing high-voltage projects in California, with direct experience working with utilities on complex regulatory and technical matters.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and interconnection processes for utility-scale projects.
  • Expertise in EPC contracts and transmission infrastructure, with knowledge of high-voltage equipment and systems.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Slack.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive project success.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and lead on-site operations as needed.

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle management of high-voltage substation and transmission projects at voltage levels up to 500kV, from design through commissioning and closeout.
  • Work closely with PG&E, SCE, SDG&E and other utilities to ensure project execution aligns with grid operator standards and resolve any technical or regulatory challenges.
  • Manage three-way relationships between internal resources, utilities, and EPC contractors to ensure engineering, construction, and procurement activities meet project milestone dates.
  • Manage project budgets, cash flows, and financial forecasting to ensure projects stay within financial targets.
  • Facilitate invoice reviews and change orders, collaborating with finance teams to maintain transparency and accuracy across financial documentation.
  • Oversee financial and progress reporting to ensure alignment with both organizational goals and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with utility and contractor timelines.
  • Lead the development and administration of construction contracts for high-voltage substation and transmission projects.
  • Manage agreements with contractors, utilities, vendors, and third-party stakeholders to ensure all deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
  • Design and implement quality assurance processes to ensure construction practices on site meets the technical requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, Power Purchase Agreements, and interconnection requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for both internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, financial status, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with utilities and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and met.
  • Manage engineering documents, including RFIs, submittmits, and as-builts, ensuring timely responses to technical issues and prompt resolution of action items.
