About The Position

New for the 2026-2027 school year, the School Age Care (SAC) program is providing wrap-around care services to 4-year-old children enrolled in Owatonna Public Schools' early learning programs. SAC is committed to providing students with a high-quality child care program with engaging activities suited to the interests of the children enrolled in the program. This new program is looking for employees who are passionate about positive youth development and dedicated to providing youth with opportunities to grow every day. The Program Assistants work in a fun, fast-paced environment. These positions support planning, preparation, and delivery of fun and engaging activities for 4-year-olds and share responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children in the program. These positions do include working on non-school days. These positions include interacting professionally with site teammates and building staff. A program handbook provides the expectation for excellence in programming. The Site Supervisor brings the program vision to life with the support of Program Assistants and the SAC Program Coordinator. 3 part-time-equivalent positions are available.

Requirements

  • A passion for working with children in a fast-paced and enriching environment.
  • Exhibit flexibility as a team player with the ability to problem-solve and handle multiple tasks at a time.
  • Maintain a customer focus, with an understanding of parent-child interactions.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Consistent and timely attendance is a must.
  • Ability to contribute to cooperative staff partnerships with communication skills to understand and be understood.

Nice To Haves

  • A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Training beyond high school/GED is appreciated and preferred.
  • Evidence of previous, successful experience and professional training working with young children in a child care/education environment.
