About The Position

Mountain View Middle School is seeking a dynamic, learner-centered educator to join our Humanities team. The successful candidate will create engaging learning experiences that develop literacy, communication, critical thinking, research, and cultural understanding while fostering curiosity and a love of learning. Our Humanities curriculum integrates reading, writing, speaking, listening, media literacy, cultural studies, technology, and global perspectives. Students explore topics such as communication through art and literature, technology and innovation, language and culture, global connections, media literacy, and responsible citizenship. The ideal candidate will be comfortable facilitating inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and authentic learning experiences that connect classroom learning to the world beyond school.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate for the assignment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent literacy development and instructional best practices
  • Strong understanding of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and research instruction
  • Ability to integrate technology and media literacy into daily instruction
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to building positive relationships with learners, families, and colleagues
  • PA Criminal Record Check (within 1 year)
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance (within 1 year)
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (within 1 year)
  • TB Test (within 3 months)
  • Physical (if applicable, within 1 year)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction aligned to district curriculum and Pennsylvania Academic Standards
  • Create learning experiences that promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor learner progress and adjust instruction
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention staff, and families to support learner success
  • Foster a positive classroom culture built on relationships, high expectations, and student engagement
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives aligned to Mountain View's vision and Portrait of an Eagle competencies
