About The Position

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge is seeking a full-time Human Trafficking and Refugee Case Manager (HTRCM) responsible for providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive case management services for ORR eligible refugees served under all refugee resettlement programs. The HTRCM will conduct comprehensive intake and assessments of client needs, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individual service plans including goal attainment and outcome measures for each client. The role promotes a peaceful, healing environment by utilizing the principles and practices of trauma-informed care and positive youth development in all aspects of work and youth engagement, including crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation. The position requires participation in weekly case reviews and regular communication with the Lead Case Manager. The HTRCM will link clients with appropriate community supports and provide advocacy to ensure goal attainment. This position requires maintaining external relationships and representing the agency to the public, necessitating a polished business-like demeanor and professional appearance, which excludes unnatural hair color, conspicuous body art, and facial piercings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other relevant degree. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance required.
  • Completion of background checks such as driving record, criminal record, and sex offense registry, state and local police records, or national sources such as FBI and E-Verify as required by funding agencies or determined necessary by Catholic Charities and results must be satisfactory to CCDBR, its representatives, employees, or agents as an essential requirement of employment.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and weekends on short notice is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, participants, and visitors.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace with a diverse client population is required.
  • Excellent crisis intervention skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple simultaneous responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operate Microsoft Office platform programs and ability to learn case management database systems.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively problem solve.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exercises good judgment and ability to make difficult decisions when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with human trafficking survivors preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with refugee or immigrants preferred.
  • Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry, file maintenance and reporting.
