About The Position

This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, a medium-custody diagnostic processing prison for male offenders. The Human Services Program Manager works in the Behavioral Health Department, providing services for the male inmate population. The facility has a maximum capacity of 850 offenders. The Human Services Program Manager II (HSPM II) is responsible for the program management and supervision of the Behavioral Health program at Craven Correctional Institution. This role involves planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating the mental health service delivery system, providing direct psychological services to offenders with a range of emotional and behavioral issues, and acting as a liaison between subordinate staff and management at Craven Correctional Institution.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a discipline specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity; or Bachelor's degree in a discipline specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish program goals and objectives, set priorities and deadlines, and work with multidisciplinary staff to accomplish goals and address service delivery needs.
  • Provide input to facility and agency management on policy and service delivery issues and supervises staff to ensure operations are consistent with the overall mission of Behavioral Health.
  • Coordinate behavioral health services, develop work plans for mental health staff, consult with the psychiatric provider at the institution, and manage behavioral health staff to ensure staffing patterns and resources meet anticipated demands, training needs and licensure requirements.
  • Perform mental health triage/screening, crisis intervention, mental health assessment and treatment planning, individual and group therapy, suicide/self-injury assessment and management, and Restrictive Housing reviews and evaluations.
  • Conduct risk assessments on offenders with a history of violent or sexual crimes.
  • May be required to travel to other facilities to complete HUB-related duties, as clinically relevant and necessary for behavioral health system function, as directed by the Psychological Program Manager.
