Human Services Program Director
About The Position
The Virginia Department of Health seeks an experienced public health leader with background in public health program leadership, grants management, communicable disease prevention and control, and administrative leadership ideally in a governmental public health setting. This position will lead multidisciplinary teams that manage Virginia Tuberculosis, Healthcare Associated Infections/Antibiotic Resistance, and Newcomer Health programs. The Director of the Division of Clinical Epidemiology will provide strategic leadership and programmatic oversight to these critical public health programs. The role may also include contributing to policy development and execution as it pertains to the portfolio of the division, such as budget and legislative proposal development and components of regulatory process, legislative reports or other required policy tasks. The role also includes administrative duties such as review of grant applications and budgets, personnel management and supervision, procurement tasks, and oversight of division level budget and resources. The position is a member of the Office of Epidemiology Executive Leadership Team and will contribute to strategic leadership and improvement initiatives at the Office Level. This position is based in Richmond, VA and is eligible for telework up to no more than 2 days/week.
Requirements
- Experience in the supervision and management of public health personnel and teams.
- Knowledge and experience in surveillance and epidemiology of communicable diseases and/or reportable conditions.
- Experience in public health emergency responses such as outbreak management and control.
- Experience in the development and maintenance of internal and external stakeholder relationships, including government officials, lawmakers & others.
- Experience with the interpretation and application of relevant public health laws, regulations, and policies.
- Experience administering public health programs, such as developing program plans, objectives and budgets and tracking progress and managing projects and employees.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and management of federal public health grants and budgets.
- Experience in assuring timely, reliable and thorough public health technical expertise.
