About The Position

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is offering a career growth opportunity for a motivated and talented individual to serve as a Human Services Coordinator Supervisor. This role involves overseeing Adult Human Services Coordinators and is based in the South Valley Area Office in Southbridge, MA. The Human Service Coordinator Supervisor (HSC II) will collaborate with assigned staff and the Area Office Management Team to foster respectful and collaborative partnerships with individuals, families, guardians, provider agencies, and other stakeholders relevant to the Area Office and Department's work. This position provides direct supervision, support, consultation, and orientation to Human Service Coordinator I's and other staff. The HSC II is a key member of the Area Office management team, contributing to the planning and resource allocation for community services. Responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and coordinating the work of assigned staff, which encompasses administrative, supportive, and educational components. The role involves monitoring Individual Service Plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, and maintaining case documentation according to standards. The HSC II will identify and address individual cases involving health, safety, risk, and changing needs, escalating them to the Area Director or designees while actively engaging in problem-solving. Additionally, the position requires consistent performance planning, feedback, and evaluations for assigned staff. The SCII will supervise SCI's for Autism Only caseloads, Self-directed services caseloads, Transitional, Children's, and Adults with Intellectual disabilities. Other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • At least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, case management or clinical/therapeutic experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
  • Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
  • Based on assignment as Qualified Intellectual Disabled Professionals, within the Department of Developmental Services, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, recreation therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, physical education or other a related field is required.
  • Based on assignment as a Mental Health Case Manager or Forensic Transition Team Coordinator, within the Department of Mental Health, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation counseling, education or other a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision, support, consultation, and orientation to assigned Human Service Coordinator I’s and other staff.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates the work of assigned staff, incorporating administrative, supportive, and educational components.
  • Monitors Individual Service Plans.
  • Maintains compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assures that case documentation is maintained and consistent with standards.
  • Identifies individual cases involving health, safety, risk and changing needs and ensures that they are brought to the attention of the Area Director or designee(s), while engaging in problem solving.
  • Monitors and provides consistent performance planning, feedback and evaluations to assigned staff.
  • Provides supervision to SCI's for Autism Only caseload, Self directed services caseload, Transitional, Childrens and Adults with Intellectual disabilities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
