About The Position

Archuleta County is seeking a qualified Caseworker I. This position works under direct supervision, learning job tasks and developing skills and knowledge. Caseworkers meet with their supervisor frequently for direction and make significant decisions only with supervisor oversight, with all documentation reviewed by the supervisor. The role involves providing casework services for various programs through the Department of Human Services, including initial intake and supervisor-assisted ongoing case management. Caseworkers perform initial assessments and evaluations of individual or family needs and safety, assist in providing crisis intervention, provide basic direct and core services, and recommend service referrals to community resources, core and direct services, and/or protective services. They develop plans to assist clients, which are submitted for supervisory review, and maintain records, documentation, and reports related to services provided. The position requires basic knowledge of established theories, principles, and concepts of social casework practice related to assigned program area(s) and involves increasingly more responsible work as the employee gains experience and independently provides basic casework services.
