About The Position

Hooker Creek Companies is seeking a dependable, organized HR Specialist to support employees across multiple divisions and provide responsive, professional HR support that contributes to a positive employee experience. This role serves as a key point of contact for day-to-day HR needs and requires someone who is approachable, service-minded, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. This position also requires strong attendance, punctuality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of administrative experience required, including at least 2 years in an HR role
  • Valid Oregon driver's license required; must be insurable under company carrier
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professional follow-through
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong communication, employee service, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general math skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and benefits administration software preferred
  • Experience with Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum or similar construction ERP software is a plus
  • Knowledge of employment law and benefits administration preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, and employee orientation processes
  • Administer employee benefits and process enrollment changes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
  • Assist with payroll-related updates and reporting
  • Coordinate background checks, DMV checks, E-Verify, and drug screening programs
  • Respond to employee questions and employment verification requests
  • Support compliance with company policies and employment regulations
  • Help improve HR processes and maintain organized systems
