Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to support its progressive public safety agency. This role is vital in supporting the department's employees and is an integral part of the Administrative Services Team. The position provides comprehensive human resources support across the department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, personnel administration, training coordination, policy compliance, and workforce development. The Human Resources Specialist will work closely with Fire and Rescue Department leadership to foster a professional, inclusive, and supportive workplace, ensuring personnel practices align with organizational policies, applicable laws, and the unique operational needs of a public safety organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, service-oriented, and understands the importance of confidentiality, accuracy, and strong interpersonal communication. This position requires the ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, manage sensitive employee matters with discretion, and balance administrative requirements with the mission-driven culture of the department. This is an intermediate technical and paraprofessional role involving core functions and specialized semi-independent assignments in public human resources administration, with a greater level of responsibility and independence than a Human Resources Specialist I.
