About The Position

This role serves as a Human Resources Senior Specialist focusing on Utah Retirement Systems (URS). The position involves ensuring HRIS data integrity, acting as a liaison between DHRM and URS, managing employee cases related to URS, pension, and benefits, and enhancing current processes. The specialist will also provide consultation on pension data impacts and benefit standards to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Exceptional analytical abilities with strong attention to detail to catch, track, and resolve complex data discrepancies.
  • Practical understanding of general employee benefits, compliance standards, and core pension/retirement concepts.
  • Ability to learn specialized HRIS platforms quickly (experience with CGI/Vantage is not required—full training will be provided).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive employee cases, manage inter-agency dynamics, and present findings effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with Utah Retirement Systems (URS) rules and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll operations or pension administration.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources or Employee Benefits.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) or a degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Research, audit, and correct file upload errors originating between the State’s HRIS system (Vantage) and Utah Retirement Systems.
  • Ensure precise entry and updates in the database.
  • Act as the core DHRM liaison to URS, fostering a collaborative partnership to identify root causes of data mismatches and establish long-term process improvements.
  • Directly assist state employees and agencies in troubleshooting and resolving individual URS, pension, and benefit-related issues with empathy and precision.
  • Continuously evaluate current file-transfer workflows and operational procedures to reduce error rates, enhance compliance, and streamline data sharing.
  • Provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders, agency leaders, and HR team members regarding pension data impacts and benefit standards.
