About The Position

The Human Resources Policy & Procedures Specialist will serve as the strategic lead and subject matter expert on all aspects of HR Policy and Compliance, with the ability to influence, design, and direct business processes as statutory regulations may require. The incumbent will be responsible for leading a broad portfolio of projects that ensure the practices and procedures across all campuses and departments conform to University Human Resources policy as well as local and federal regulations. The individual in this role will be responsible for driving the regular assessment of existing policy and practices and the strategic development of new HR policies and procedures, including areas of statutory compliance, reporting, and document management. Additionally, this role will proactively identify compliance risks and provide critical risk-mitigation guidance to university leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 to 7 years of broad-based human resources and compliance experience
  • Advanced knowledge of human resources policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices for employment records maintenance and management
  • Demonstrated experience managing and directing large-scale projects serving diverse constituencies
  • Superior writing skills
  • Ability to stay informed on changing regulatory obligations and proactively analyze and mitigate their impact on the University
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Technical facility with HRIS systems and databases

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic lead and subject matter expert on all aspects of HR Policy and Compliance.
  • Influence, design, and direct business processes as statutory regulations may require.
  • Lead a broad portfolio of projects to ensure practices and procedures across all campuses and departments conform to University Human Resources policy and local/federal regulations.
  • Drive the regular assessment of existing HR policies and practices.
  • Strategically develop new HR policies and procedures, including statutory compliance, reporting, and document management.
  • Proactively identify compliance risks and provide critical risk-mitigation guidance to university leadership.
  • Work closely and strategically partner with colleagues in all areas of HR to identify opportunities for developing robust techniques and procedures that support compliance at all stages of the employment cycle.
  • Partner with HCM Services on the review of work performed by HRCs outside of central Human Resources.
  • Provide review/recommendations and high-level strategic direction to HCM Services team and trainer(s) on compliance training programs, ensuring compliance with employment regulations in all states where the University is an employer of record.
  • Serve as HR’s primary authority and point of contact for University Departments with oversight responsibilities for other regulatory responsibilities.
  • Work with university stakeholders, legal counsel, and individual departments on matters ranging from FMLA to unemployment, and protection of minors.
