About The Position

Workhorse is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Manager to support our Detroit area operations. This role will serve as a trusted partner to business leaders, provide hands-on HR support, and help drive consistent, compliant, and employee-centered HR practices across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong Benefits knowledge, excellent executive-level communication skills, and experience working within an HRIS environment, preferably Paylocity. This is a hybrid role based out of our Wixom office. 4 days a week in office preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manager or lead capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of employee benefits programs and administration
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with executive leadership
  • HRIS experience required; Paylocity experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of 3 days per week in-office
  • Ability to successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to leaders and executives, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness
  • Manage and support employee relations matters, including investigations, coaching, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
  • Oversee and support benefits administration, including enrollments, employee education, vendor coordination, and issue resolution
  • Partner with executives to clearly communicate HR initiatives, policies, and organizational updates
  • Support compensation, performance, and talent processes in alignment with company goals
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR data within the HRIS
  • Leverage HR analytics and reporting to identify trends and inform decision-making
  • Collaborate with payroll, finance, and leadership teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
  • Support onboarding, employee engagement initiatives, and retention strategies.
  • Manage and support immigration-related processes, including coordination with immigration counsel, visa tracking, documentation, and compliance requirements
