About The Position

Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead our people strategies and support the continued growth of our award-winning employee-owned firm. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing HLR's Human Resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. You'll work closely with company leadership to support our employees and help cultivate a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. The ideal candidate is an approachable HR professional who values relationships, exercises sound judgment, and is committed to creating a positive employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Three or more years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple departments and partnering with organizational leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or SPHR certification.

  • Ability to travel periodically to HLR office locations throughout Illinois.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HLR's recruiting strategy from sourcing through onboarding.
  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and hire exceptional talent.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate evaluations, employment offers, pre-employment activities, and onboarding.
  • Develop and maintain onboarding and orientation programs that create an outstanding first-day experience.
  • Maintain job descriptions and career pathways for all positions.
  • Partner with managers to address workplace concerns, resolve employee issues, and promote a positive work environment.
  • Guide performance management processes, employee development, and annual review cycles.
  • Conduct exit interviews and identify opportunities to improve employee retention and engagement.
  • Help strengthen HLR's collaborative culture by promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Administer HLR's compensation programs and recommend salary structure improvements.
  • Conduct salary benchmarking and market research.
  • Manage employee benefit programs and vendor relationships.
  • Educate employees on available benefits and wellness programs.
  • Coordinate annual review and compensation cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee records.
  • Administer workers' compensation claims and related documentation.
  • Support the resolution of sensitive employment matters, consulting legal counsel when necessary.
  • Maintain confidential personnel records and HR reporting.
  • Advise leadership on HR strategy, workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Recommend improvements to HR policies, procedures, and employee programs.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement and company culture.
  • Stay current on employment law, HR best practices, and workplace trends through continuing education and professional involvement.
