About The Position

The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for leading all human resource functions for a growing mental health private practice. This role serves as a strategic and operational partner to leadership by overseeing employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, policy development, compliance, and performance management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, maintains strict confidentiality, and has experience supporting healthcare or behavioral health organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and HRIS/payroll systems.

Nice To Haves

  • HR experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or mental health setting.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
  • Experience with employee handbook development and policy writing.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance and credentialing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for all employees and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Assist with employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management initiatives.
  • Create and post job requisitions on various recruitment platforms.
  • Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
  • Schedule, conduct, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
  • Manage candidate communications throughout the hiring process.
  • Facilitate reference checks and employment verification.
  • Prepare employment offers and onboarding documentation.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and required training.
  • Ensure completion of employment paperwork, credentialing, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate technology, equipment, and workspace setup for new employees.
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage employee separation processes.
  • Process offboarding paperwork and ensure appropriate system access removal.
  • Process biweekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Review employee timesheets, PTO requests, and payroll changes.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Coordinate with payroll vendors and accounting as needed.
  • Administer employee health insurance, retirement plans, leave programs, and other benefits.
  • Manage employee enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment.
  • Serve as liaison with benefits providers and employees.
  • Educate employees regarding available benefits and eligibility requirements.
  • Develop, review, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with employment laws and healthcare regulations.
  • Recommend improvements to HR processes and organizational policies.
  • Support performance evaluation processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Assist leadership with workforce planning and staffing needs.
  • Generate HR reports and maintain employment metrics.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture.
