About The Position

Oversee all aspects of the Human Resources function at the Mitchell, South Dakota manufacturing facility. This role involves managing human resource activities including work rules, safety programs, attendance, and discipline. The position requires establishing and promoting a participative environment and a pro-active union avoidance program, while seeking ways to expand communications and associate involvement. The Human Resources Manager will also manage employee relations issues and participate as a member of the plant management team to establish operating goals and implementation plans. Key responsibilities include recruiting and coordinating recruitment for all hourly and salaried positions, maintaining division policies for selecting quality candidates, and providing orientation to new associates. The role also involves implementing training and development programs, administering the performance appraisal system and organizational development systems, and managing fringe and benefit programs. Additionally, the position requires administering corporate and divisional policies, meeting statutory requirements, developing and maintaining ISO procedures for HR, keeping appropriate files and records (including payroll and attendance), and coordinating the plant’s safety, workers’ compensation, and loss control activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience.
  • 3 or more years managing a complete HR function in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in fostering a non-union and participative workplace.
  • Significant involvement recruiting and selection of a quality hourly and salaried workforce.
  • Experience managing and executing a formal training and development program.
  • Experience in developing and implementing health, safety, and workers’ compensation programs.
