About The Position

MVEC seeks a Human Resource Intern to partner with Human Resource staff and other Team Members on projects for the Summer of 2026. Our internship program will run for approximately 12-14 weeks during the summer starting in May and will report on-site at Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative located in Jordan, MN. Our program focuses on hands on learning, professional development, industry and business model knowledge, and networking. MVEC interns will collaborate on a shared team project with 10% of your time dedicated to this task that requires a presentation to the Executive Team. 90% of your time will be dedicated to specific job functions as outlined below. Throughout the summer, interns are provided opportunities to learn from and network with senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program studying human resources or related field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the HR Generalist to administer leave processes and ensure compliance with applicable legislative updates.
  • Support the Talent Specialist in executing recruitment activities and coordinating onboarding processes.
  • Provide assistance with Team Member professional development and organizational development opportunities.
  • Develop and execute wellness activities to support Team Member well-being.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks to support daily operations, including personnel record maintenance, documentation updates, and assistance with unforeseen or time-sensitive matters.

Benefits

  • Paid internship at $22.00 per hour.
  • Accrual of Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and 4 hours paid for any MVEC observed holiday while employed.
