About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist performs a variety of administrative duties supporting the Human Resource Manager and the Department, requiring diverse clerical and communication skills. This employee-focused position demands a high level of confidentiality and integrity. The role is responsible for the hourly recruiting function (and salaried as directed) and all associated administrative tasks. It also assists with salaried recruiting activities and other Human Resources duties as workload permits, including the implementation of services, policies, and programs, and supporting company managers with employee relations, payroll, and benefit issues.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree required
  • 2–3 years of recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven HRIS experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work independently.
  • High attention to detail with a hands-on approach and a strong bias for action.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment of the hourly workforce and manage all functions within the recruitment life cycle.
  • Assist with salaried recruiting activities as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Manage relationships with staffing agencies for probationary employees and skilled direct hires.
  • Proactively source candidates outside of agency relationships, including through employee referrals.
  • Interview and test candidates as needed, regardless of referral source.
  • Administer the job posting/bidding process in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including award notifications to employees and the Union.
  • Accurately and promptly enter personnel data into the HRIS system, including onboarding of new hires for time and attendance tracking.
  • Communicate hourly terminations to all relevant parties (agencies, supervisors, union) and document in HRIS.
  • Assist with compliance of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including FMLA, FLSA, COBRA, HIPAA, Workers’ Compensation, and EEO.
  • Coordinate and communicate benefit programs to employees.
  • Manage annual open enrollment, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Act as the primary contact for insurance brokers/providers and reconciling benefit billing.
  • Maintain HR records, employee files, accident reports, and assist with workers’ compensation claims.
  • Monitor and process HR invoices.
  • Prepare and analyze HR-related reports (e.g., new hires, turnover, demographics, training) using Excel, Access, and ADP.
  • Support attendance data tracking for absenteeism programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
