About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist performs professional human resources work supporting organizational operations by administering employment programs, interpreting policies, advising supervisors, and ensuring consistent application of employment practices across the organization. The position exercises independent judgment in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations support, policy application, and operational HR processes while coordinating assigned HR initiatives and supporting organizational compliance efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience performing professional human resources work involving recruitment coordination, onboarding administration, policy interpretation, employee relations support, and independent judgment in applying established procedures.
  • Ability to interpret policies, evaluate workplace situations, and recommend appropriate responses while recognizing organizational risk.
  • Ability to explain procedures clearly and conduct orientation or training sessions effectively.
  • Ability to use HR information systems and applicant tracking systems efficiently.
  • Ability to prepare and review documentation accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with applicants, employees, and supervisors.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or comparable credential.
  • Experience in public sector or government human resources.
  • Experience delivering presentations or training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates recruitment activities including postings, applicant communication, screening coordination, interview scheduling, and hiring documentation.
  • Advises supervisors on hiring procedures and ensures compliance with established processes while maintaining recruitment records and tracking progress.
  • Coordinates pre-employment requirements and onboarding workflows.
  • Conducts employee orientation and communicates organizational procedures, expectations, and employment requirements while supporting new employees and supervisors during entry processes.
  • Interprets handbook provisions and HR procedures and provides advisory guidance on routine employment matters.
  • Drafts written responses, recommendations, and procedural guidance while supporting supervisors in applying employment practices consistently.
  • Participates in workplace reviews and investigations as assigned, including documentation review, note-taking, intake interviews, and preparation of summaries or recommendations.
  • Assists with drafting corrective action documentation and supports consistent application of organizational standards.
  • Supports HR operational workflows including records administration, leave processes, benefits procedures, and employment documentation compliance while ensuring consistent application of established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains working proficiency across HR functional areas to support operational continuity and exercises independent judgment in addressing routine matters within assigned authority.
  • The Human Resources Generalist may be assigned responsibilities across HR functional areas or other organizational initiatives as needed to support operational continuity, organizational priorities, and workforce deployment needs.
