About The Position

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day Human Resources needs of all Willow ministries by delivering comprehensive HR support throughout the employee lifecycle. This role partners with ministry leadership and staff to foster a positive, compliant, and mission-aligned workplace culture. Responsibilities include recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, benefits and compensation support, compliance, performance management, HR systems administration, and offboarding. The ideal candidate is organized, relational, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple HR functions while maintaining confidentiality and legal compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with handling sensitive and highly confidential information
  • Experience working within HRIS, Paylocity preferred.
  • Understanding of various recruiting channels, job boards, and networking groups for recruiting purposes.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, sourcing, interviewing, offers, and onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure effective hiring practices, communication, and legal compliance
  • Oversee screening requirements such as background and reference checks
  • Support onboarding initiatives
  • Serve as a resource for HR policies, procedures, benefits, compensation, and employee questions
  • Process employee updates including promotions, salary changes, and organizational changes
  • Support employee relations matters and other initiatives
  • Administer FMLA, workers’ compensation, and offboarding processes
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, HR policies, audits, and recordkeeping requirements
  • Partner with HR Director in performance management, training initiatives, and organizational HR programs
  • Act as the HRIS subject matter expert
  • Manage work authorization and independent contractor processes in partnership with Finance/Accounting
