About The Position

Human Resources Generalist SCHEDULE:  Full-time, 52 weeks per year LOCATION:  217 S. Salina Street, 2nd Floor, Syracuse, NY 13202 STARTING PAY RANGE:  $24.00 to $26.00 per hour REPORTS TO:  Director of Human Resources

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience; prior experience in administration or human resources is desirable.
  • Experience with or extensive knowledge of the Head Start program is very helpful.
  • Valid driver license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle for Head Start/Early Head Start, including creating/updating job descriptions, posting openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, initiating and monitoring background checks, and facilitating a seamless new-hire onboarding process.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HS/EHS employee inquiries and concerns, providing support to managers on policies, performance reviews, and mediating workplace conflicts.
  • Assist with administrative processes for timekeeping and employee benefits programs (health, retirement plans, leaves of absence) as directed; to include open enrollment, new hire enrollment, claims paperwork, timesheets, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g.: FMLA, ADA, FLSA), and maintaining accurate and confidential employee records in HRIS/payroll/benefits portals.
  • Coordinate performance evaluation cycles, track goal progress, identify training needs, and help develop and implement training and development programs and initiatives.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on key HR metrics (e.g.: turnover rates, headcount) to inform leadership decisions and improve HR strategies.
