The Human Resources Generalist advises managers on performance, disciplinary action, conflict resolution, and terminations while ensuring compliance with procedures, documentation, and employment laws. Responsibilities include handling employee separations, investigations, and accommodation requests, as well as reviewing HIPAA violations and policies to maintain regulatory compliance. The position also supports retention through exit and stay interviews, provides access to external resources for employee well-being, and assists with recruiting, interviewing, and representing the company at community events. Additionally, it oversees office operations, including greeting visitors, coordinating with facilities, managing supplies, and supporting overall HR department efficiency, while maintaining confidentiality and upholding company values. Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field OR commensurate work experience of a minimum of 4 years actively involved in human resources, employee relations, learning and development, or other directly related function.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to managers regarding employee performance concerns, disciplinary action and conflict management issues.
  • Participates in the termination process and guides managers with proper procedures, documentation requirements, and effective communication to ensure compliance and fairness.
  • Processes new employees as well as separated employees in HRIS
  • Maintain a network of external resources for GT employees seeking assistance for personal, financial, or emotional challenges
  • Performs investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation and hostile work environments
  • Works with HR Manager on the performance evaluation process
  • Assesses employee requests for accommodations, facilitates the interactive process between the employee and employer, and ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant regulations.
  • Reviews HIPAA and other violations and advises managers on appropriate action
  • Reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and identifies trends to reduce turnover.
  • Conducts Stay interviews to gather information about employee satisfaction, engagement levels, and potential factors influencing retention.
  • Meet and greet visitors to the office
  • Works with facilities team to ensure that offices adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies; orders new supplies as needed
  • Assists with external recruiting efforts, including interviewing and maintaining relationships with schools and local community organizations.
  • Assists the Talent Acquisition team to represent GT Independence at job fairs within their region
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the HR department
