About The Position

At Road & Rail Services, we power the engine that keeps industries running. Supporting rail-driven logistics and automotive industries requires strong, people-first leadership. We build teams that thrive in fast-paced, safety-critical environments, and we're looking for a culture-first HR Generalist to help us support associates working across rail yards, terminals, automotive plants and multi-state operations. Our Mission As an HR Generalist, you will be a central partner in our rail-driven people operations. You will manage the full associate lifecycle-from high-impact onboarding in operational environments to proactive employee relations and talent support. This role goes beyond administration; you will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and associates in a business that operates across multiple states.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably supporting hourly, frontline, or operations-heavy workforces.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP Workforce Now preferred).
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and judgment skills in fast-paced, people-intensive environments.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
  • Experience supporting multi-state operations, safety-sensitive roles, or logistics/transportation environments.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled HR tools or people analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Associate Onboarding & Integration
  • Support New Hire Onboarding tailored to safety-sensitive, operations-driven roles, ensuring associates are prepared from day one.
  • Partner with operations leaders to ensure onboarding aligns with site requirements.
  • Employee Relations in Operational Environments
  • Serve as a primary HR contact for associates and managers across the organization.
  • Resolve workplace concerns with empathy, consistency, and a strong understanding of operational realities, including shift work and distributed teams.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, including FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and other regulations impacting safety-sensitive and hourly workforces.
  • Support consistent policy application across locations while balancing compliance and operational needs.
  • Total Rewards & Associate Support
  • Assist associates and leaders with benefits, pay questions, and issue resolution, reinforcing our People First commitment in a demanding logistics environment.
  • Partner with payroll and benefits teams to support accuracy for a multi-state, shift-based workforce.
  • Culture, Engagement & Equity
  • Drive engagement initiatives that resonate with frontline and field associates, promoting fairness, inclusion, and trust across diverse work sites.
  • Support leaders in building strong, respectful teams in environments where safety, accountability, and collaboration are critical.
