About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist in Benefits Administration plays a critical role in supporting the benefits programs for the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS). This role administers and oversees employee benefits, assists employees with benefit inquiries, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and supports initiatives to promote employee wellness and satisfaction. This position requires a detailed-oriented individual who is dedicated to providing an exceptional employee experience and aligning benefit offerings with WCHS’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of human resources generalist experience, or combination of applicable education and experience is preferred.
  • Proficient use or Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and practical application of all human resources disciplines.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people.
  • Superior speaking, facilitating and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Demonstrate good decision making and problem solving skills, which are outcome and solutions focused.
  • Good attendance.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and follow-up.
  • Function collaboratively as part of a customer service oriented human resources team.
  • Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform work with little or no direct supervision.
  • Business acumen, with an understanding of the role of human resources functions to support business growth and anticipate future needs of the organization.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Ability to pass drug screen, background check and other appropriate pre-screenings.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s licenses and be insurable under the insurance program at the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP or similar certification preferred.
  • Two years of demonstrated HRIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate WCHS core mission, vision, and values; promote Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System as an employer of choice.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, and flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
  • Coordinate and lead the open enrollment process, including planning, employee communications, and ensuring a smooth enrollment experience.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing assistance with benefit selection, eligibility, claims issues, and wellness resources.
  • Ensure benefit programs comply with federal, state, and tribal regulations, including ACA, HIPAA, and other applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with benefit providers to maintain and improve services, resolve employee issues, and negotiate program enhancements.
  • Develop and deliver clear, accessible communication about benefits offerings, changes, deadlines, and wellness initiatives to keep employees informed.
  • Oversee benefits data in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy in employee records, enrollment, eligibility, and payroll deductions.
  • Assist employees with retirement planning resources, managing enrollment, changes, and providing access to education on retirement planning.
  • Manage leave policies, including FMLA, disability, and personal leave, ensuring compliance and clear communication with employees.
  • Conduct regular audits of benefit plans, reconcile monthly invoices, and generate reports to support compliance and inform program improvement.
  • Organize benefit education sessions, webinars, and informational meetings to help employees understand and maximize their benefits.
  • Provide support with the coordination and maintenance of employee recognition, engagement and retention programs.
  • Assist with all other functional areas, projects and assignments of human resources as directed by management.
  • Meet performance goals established by WCHS executive management team.
  • Attend required facility and departmental meetings.
