About The Position

The Human Resources Coordinator role will support and enhance our organization and employee experience, with a focus on learning, development, on-boarding and assistance to the services and committees. This role will collaborate with leaders across the organization and play a key role in ensuring our staff are equipped with the tools, knowledge and support for their roles and development. Working with the HR Director, the HR Coordinator will provide administrative and project-based support across a broad range of HR functions. This role requires detail oriented and creative thinking with a passion for learning and development at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • HR Coordinator experience with a focus on supporting training, development and onboarding initiatives.
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field or completion of a professional development program in personnel administration
  • Experience in HR systems and learning platforms
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with a variety of different people including students, part-time and full-time staff, suppliers and University stakeholders
  • Ability to gain a good working knowledge of MSU policies and legislative guidelines
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction
  • Resourcefulness required to provide human resources support for all staff
  • Discreetness required, as the incumbent will be privy to sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Excellent record keeping, organizational, and conflict management skills

Nice To Haves

  • CHRP designation or working towards CHRP designation is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop assessment tools to review existing resources and modules provided by MSU services & businesses and consolidate recommendations for areas of improvement
  • On-boarding for all staff in conjunction with HR Director and service managers, collaborating with campus stakeholders as needed
  • Develop, coordinate and/or deliver professional / skill development workshops throughout the academic year for staff and volunteers
  • Identify, develop, update and monitor training opportunities and requirements for the MSU as needed
  • In conjunction with department and service managers, oversee the implementation of applicable training for staff and volunteers
  • Including peer support service training, PTM and FT staff
  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps
  • Map out training plans, design and develop training programs
  • Organize, develop, or source training programs to meet specific training needs
  • Assists with the development of and monitors the spending of the corporate training budget
  • Maintains employee training records
  • Assist with transition reports as needed
  • Assist with employee relations in absence of HR Director
  • Provide guidance and assistance to committees/services in need of additional supports/training
  • As needed by Board of Director via HR Director
  • Assist with keeping employment and workplace policies and documents updated
  • Assist with hiring as needed
  • Including questions, scheduling, training, interviewing, contracts etc
