About The Position

The HR Associate plays a key role in delivering a high-quality onboarding and employee experience at STR. This role owns the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires and provides broad HR operational support across employee engagement, events, internships, learning & development, and recruiting coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career HR professional to gain hands-on experience across multiple HR disciplines while working closely with senior HR team members and business partners in a mission-driven, technology-focused environment. This role is Woburn-based with a hybrid schedule of 1–2 onsite days per week and remote work flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in an HR, operations, or professional office environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with HRIS systems preferred (ADP strongly preferred).
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance (required due to DoD-related work).

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the end-to-end onboarding process to ensure a seamless, compliant, and welcoming experience for all new hires.
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for new hires from offer acceptance through their first week.
  • Coordinate and facilitate day-one orientation (in-person and remote), including welcoming new hires and conducting office tours.
  • Partner with IT and internal teams to ensure timely hardware, software, and systems access.
  • Create, maintain, and audit new hire records in ADP and internal HR systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage onboarding schedules, Outlook calendar invites, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Collect, review, and maintain onboarding documentation (offer letters, resumes, I-9s, etc.) with strict attention to detail and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day HR operational support, including data entry, document management, and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Conduct regular new-hire check-ins to support successful integration and identify early issues.
  • Support the planning and execution of onsite and virtual employee events, including all-hands meetings.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, including events, internship programs, and learning & development activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data in ADP.
  • Support audit preparation and internal compliance reviews (I-9, OFCCP documentation, training records).
  • Support internship program activities as needed.
  • Provide backup support for recruiting activities, including interview scheduling, resume review, and candidate communications.
