About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the HR department, ensuring smooth and efficient human resources functions. This role involves assisting with recruitment, employee onboarding, benefits administration, compliance tracking, and general HR-related tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting educators and staff in a nonprofit educational setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s degree or other Certification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in HR, administrative support, or office management (education or nonprofit experience is a plus).
  • Knowledge of basic HR principles, labor laws, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with job postings, resume screening, and scheduling interviews.
  • Support the onboarding process, including preparing offer letters, conducting reference checks, and ensuring new hire paperwork is completed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new employee orientation sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and HR databases.
  • Track certifications, training requirements, and credentialing for school staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assist in monitoring employee leave requests and absences.
  • Help employees with general benefits inquiries and assist with enrollment processes.
  • Work with payroll staff to ensure accurate timekeeping and record-keeping.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR-related questions and direct employees to appropriate resources.
  • Serve as the primary front-of-office presence during designated business hours, ensuring all visitors are properly checked in according to office security procedures.
  • Greet and assist visiting employees, visitors, and delivery personnel, and help direct them to the appropriate person or resource while providing a professional, welcoming, and helpful experience.
  • Assist in organizing staff events and wellness initiatives.
  • Prepare HR-related reports, memos, and correspondence as needed.
  • Assist with HR projects, training sessions, and compliance audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR matters and employee information.
