Requirements

  • Several years of related experience leading HR functions in a unionized environment
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration or related field
  • Applicable knowledge of employment laws and policies required
  • High degree of interpersonal skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products and HRIS systems
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, be tactful, flexible and possess sound judgment
  • Possess positive customer relations skills
  • Understand and carry out detailed written or verbal instructions

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating administrative activities related to the Davidson Transit Organization personnel
  • Providing recommendations related to personnel related issues and overseeing implementation of policies and procedures
  • Providing leadership and supervision to the Human Resources staff in the development and delivery of human resources programs
  • Serving as custodian of the personnel records, and overseeing updates as needed
  • Participating in the development and adoption of rules and regulations for the corporation
  • Unemployment Compensation benefit coordination as needed
  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and best practices
  • Keeping abreast of national/international transit policies and practices and determining applicability to DTO
  • Keeping abreast of current and changing regulations and laws and determining applicability to DTO
  • Working with legal counsel related to labor issues
  • Developing DTO practices and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Labor relations
  • Assisting with matters involving the collective bargaining unit
  • Keeping abreast of issues and direction of national transit unions
  • Participating in grievance process when necessary
  • Providing research/data for arbitration
  • Making court appearances as required
  • Advising supervisors regarding disciplinary or termination actions
  • Responsible for all EEO administration/coordination
  • Oversight of time and attendance programs
  • Overseeing recruitment and retention activities
  • Researching and developing specific transit related job requirements
  • Working directly with department managers and interviewing applicants as needed
  • Coordinating salary study process for administrative positions and making salary recommendations as needed
  • Coordinating employee performance evaluation process for Administrative Staff
  • Monitoring timeliness of evaluations
  • Maintaining master template of the annual planning and evaluation process
  • Administering Employee Benefit Programs- ensuring data integrity and service quality to employees
