About The Position

Under general supervision, performs administrative human resources work of moderate difficulty; performs related work as assigned. This role involves assisting with the administration of employee benefit programs, reconciling vendor billings, resolving employee benefit issues, maintaining HR databases and spreadsheets, generating reports, managing the organizational chart, coordinating new employee orientation, processing personnel requisitions and action forms, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, updating HR information on websites, and assisting with special projects. The position requires knowledge of HR practices, benefits, applicable regulations, employment laws, and standard office software, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of human resources practices and benefits practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in accordance with policies.
  • Knowledge of applicable county, state, and federal regulations and laws.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws and County personnel policies.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment and computer software, database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Skill in operating common office equipment including computers and associated HR/payroll and office software.
  • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the administration of employee benefit programs, including retirement programs and voluntary benefit offerings.
  • Reconciles monthly billings/payments to benefit vendors and calculates any necessary payroll adjustments.
  • Resolves employee benefits issues through communication and coordination with staff, consultants, and service providers.
  • Develops, maintains, and controls databases and spreadsheets for human resources related information, generating reports as needed.
  • Maintains the organizational chart program and updates it when changes are submitted.
  • Coordinates and presents New Employee Orientation, ensuring information is updated and current.
  • Processes personnel requisitions from departments, ensuring position and salary information is correct.
  • Updates weekly employment listing, including public website posting, and places recruitment ads as needed.
  • Verifies information and processes personnel action forms within established payroll timelines, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, interprets, and recommends policies, ensuring compliance with policies, rules, regulations, laws, and procedures.
  • Works with IT to update human resources information on internal and external websites and develops enhancements for the websites.
  • Gives presentations to departments, employees, or the Board of Supervisors as appropriate.
  • Assists with Job and Interview set up in the recruitment software SparkHire.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
