About The Position

Under the general direction of the Finance and Administrative Services Director, the Human Resource Technician performs a variety of entry-level administrative duties supporting Human Resources, Payroll, and Accounts Payable functions. This is a part-time, on-site position averaging 20 hours per week. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with flexible start and end times based on workload, business needs, and mutual agreement with the department director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of clerical, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, or human resources experience.
  • Basic knowledge of office administration and customer service practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and financial information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic mathematical and data entry skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Ability to learn HR, payroll, and accounting software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is desirable but not required.
  • Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to learn Human Resources and payroll software.
  • Assist in answering employees' questions and direct them to the appropriate resources.
  • Assist with new hire paperwork and onboarding.
  • Help maintain employee files and HR records.
  • Help enter employee information into HR and payroll systems.
  • Help process employee HR and payroll changes, including new hires, payroll updates, and separations.
  • Assist with payroll by reviewing timesheets and entering payroll information.
  • File, scan, copy, and organize confidential HR and payroll documents.
  • Support HR projects and special events.
  • Help coordinate employee training, recognition, and wellness programs.
  • Strong organizational and filing skills, including maintaining electronic and paper records.
  • Willingness to learn employment laws, HR practices, and payroll processes.
  • Provide support for Accounts Payable functions as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
