About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Parks has a job opening for a Human Resources Specialist. This position supports the Human Resources Administration Branch with personnel and payroll processing for Kentucky State Parks. We are looking for an individual that’s excited to learn, grow, and make a difference! Our office is a highly collaborative environment and offers a supportive and growth-oriented atmosphere. This is the perfect opportunity for an applicant who is seeking a career in HR or who is interested in learning to function in the capacity of a HR Generalist.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of professional experience in personnel administration, business administration or management.
  • Administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of KHRIS or experience working in other human resource information systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable, demonstrate empathy, and active listening skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep up with multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Track personnel actions and server tip reports by keying data accurately in established tracking systems.
  • Provide support to the HR Manager by drafting HR-related correspondence, mailing certified letters to employees and other HR documents, and reviewing internal approval forms for missing data.
  • Prepares and processes human resource actions, timesheets, payroll, and benefits actions in KHRIS.
  • Compile personnel and payroll reports.
  • Assist HR Manager with coordinating and attending job fairs.
  • Assist HR Management with HR-related training.
