About The Position

The HR Generalist is an integral member of the Human Resources department providing comprehensive support to HR functions for the organization. The HR Generalist acts as a key resource to employees and management in a multi-state capacity. This role fosters positive workplace relations, ensures regulatory compliance, and contributes strategically to organizational effectiveness, employee engagement initiatives and continuous improvement within HR processes and practices.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum experience in progressive human resources roles (Union experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Proven experience with HRIS platforms such as Ceridian Dayforce, PayCor, ADP, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal employment, wage and hour laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and apply sound business judgement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office365 products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Administer various HR policies and procedures across the organization, ensuring compliance across multiple states
  • Provide support and assistance with benefits administration, including open enrollment events, benefit inquiries, and 401(k) administration support
  • Participate in mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, employee integration, communication and HRIS configuration
  • Train departmental team members to ensure consistency, compliance, and professional development across HR practices
  • Participate in employee relations matters including investigations, corrective actions, and terminations, providing guidance and recommendations to management
  • Manage (FMLA), (ADA) accommodations and general leave of absence requests ensuring consistent compliant handling; ensure timely communications with appropriate personnel
  • Assist HR Business Partner with compensation analysis, research, and benchmarking to support data-driven decision-making
  • Serve as payroll backup, including payroll processing, unemployment and state tax set-up, audits, W2 corrections, garnishments, direct deposits, pay card management and other payroll distribution platforms
  • Provide support and assistance with HRIS management, including functionality, configuration, updates, reporting, and maintenance
  • Design, develop, and lead HR-related presentations, training, and workshops in alignment with organizational needs and strategic initiatives as advised
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and union collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) across multiple states
  • Coordinate and conduct employee-life cycle functions such as but not limited to entry and exit interviews, new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring compliance and completion of E-Verify and employment documentation
  • Complete and submit required HR reporting, metrics, audits and compliance documentation as required
  • Collaborate with managers to develop, update and maintain accurate job descriptions
  • Produce and maintain reports and results of HR department in relation to established goals
  • Respond to internal and external HR inquiries (EEOC, government bodies, legal counsel, etc.), preparing responses and documentation as required
  • Attend relevant seminars, workshops and training sessions to stay current with HR best practices, legal requirements and professional development
  • Coordinate and participate in employee engagement initiatives, maintaining a positive workplace culture
  • Assist with the full recruitment lifecycle including but not limited to job postings, candidate tracking and screening and interviewing as needed
  • Additional projects and team support as needed
