About The Position

Responsible for the daily administrative and Human Resources (HR) duties at a Department of Corrections (DOC) institution. Provide assistance with recruitment and record maintenance for payroll processing as well as provide clerical support to all employees. The job involves a wide range of support activities inside HR unit, from coordinating meetings to maintaining employee records/database (manual and electronic) to posting job ads. Also, act as the liaison between HR and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions. Provides clerical and administrative assistance to the Human Resources Officer (HRO) to ensure accurate and efficient administration of human resource operations to include recruiting, payroll processing, benefits administration, personnel file maintenance, data entry into Page-up, Cardinal, BES and the database and assist, when necessary, with time/leave maintenance. Acts as an HR advocate and assists the HRO in day-to-day duties to provide effective customer service in all areas of Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Experience providing operational HR support such as recruitment coordination, employee onboarding assistance, and maintaining accurate personnel records in both electronic and manual systems.
  • Working knowledge of HR processes including payroll support, benefits assistance, and time and leave maintenance.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and data‑entry systems (such as PageUp, Cardinal, or similar platforms) with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to deliver responsive customer service and serve as an effective liaison between employees, supervisors, and HR leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate meetings, and maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform administrative and clerical duties including document preparation, file management, and general office support.

  • Working knowledge of FMLA and VSDP
