About The Position

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Humanities, in Hershey, PA is seeking a full-time Human Research Technologist to work on research activities within the Van Scoy Communication Lab. This position will support research programs related to medical decision making, communication quality analysis and mixed methods research occurring in a variety of settings that include rural, urban, underserved communities and ICU/hospital/healthcare settings. This is an in-person, full-time, position for 40 hours per week that we are looking to fill as soon as possible. This is a limited term appointment funded one year from the date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Prior experience coding qualitative data
  • Experience working in community settings

Responsibilities

  • Data entry into study databases (REDCap) (training provided)
  • Preparing research materials and project materials for participant use
  • Travel by air, car or train to research events for data collection
  • Shipping and tracking project materials to event sites
  • Tracking participant stipends and maintaining administrative project databases
  • Conducting interviews and focus groups via phone, in-person or via zoom (training provided)
  • Qualitative data analysis (training provided)
  • Attending lab meetings as requested
  • Scheduling and organizing in-person and videoconference meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
