About The Position

Apple is looking for a Human Factors Engineer who can initiate, plan and conduct studies to support design decision and to validate sensor based interactions. In this role, you will shape how people interact with our products by defining experience targets, establishing data strategies that inform design and engineering decisions, and specifying interaction requirements that bridge human needs with technical capabilities and product engineering. You will work at the intersection of human behavior science, systems thinking, and product strategy to ensure our experiences are grounded in evidence and centered on people. This team identifies human factors risks and proposes crucial research throughout all stages of product and technology development. By working closely with engineers and designers, we gain a deep understanding of design and interaction challenges. Through multi-functional collaboration, we define study objectives and develop tailored research plans to address them. Our work influences multidisciplinary engineering teams by delivering actionable insights that drive key decisions. We determine critical data attributes, conduct both qualitative and quantitative analyses, and translate findings into meaningful insights. To communicate impact, we visualize data and present clear, compelling recommendations to all collaborators.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree required with experience in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, HCI or a related design discipline
  • In lieu of degrees, 3+ years of experience in related fields

Nice To Haves

  • MS or PhD preferred
  • Diverse toolkit of user experience research and usability methods, with the ability to select, scale, and adapt methods across investigative, information-gathering, and analysis tasks
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Experience prototyping study tools to test and verify research hypotheses for interaction technologies
  • Proven track record of presenting research findings and strategic recommendations to cross-functional partners and executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply emerging technologies and software algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with Motion Capture, AR/VR, multi-sensory interactions, or biomechanics
