About The Position

Walker & Dunlop is a full-service commercial mortgage finance company, providing real estate financing for multifamily, assisted living and nursing home properties utilizing Fannie Mae, FHA and Freddie Mac financing sources. The Loan Servicing division is responsible for servicing loans either acquired or underwritten by the company. As loan servicer, the company is responsible for enforcing the terms of the loan documents, monitoring the underlying asset securing the loan and communicating results to investors and other servicing relationships. This position is in the FHA servicing group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics or similar field OR 3 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with finance structures and requirements related to Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and FHA markets a major plus.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, while providing a strong individual contribution.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, judgment, flexibility, and dependability.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, through all levels of the organization as well as interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in the use of all MS Office products.
  • Energetic self-starter.
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes.
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and communicate loan requirements to borrowers.
  • Track and collect mortgage payments required by loan documents.
  • Daily borrower contact by phone and e-mail.
  • Review of new loan set-up.
  • Monitoring and processing tax disbursements from escrow.
  • Reviewing and processing repair disbursements from escrow and tracking and ensuring that repairs are completed by the deadlines set forth in the loan documents.
  • Administering Mortgage Insurance Premium (“MIP”) payments.
  • Oversight of escrow analysis.
  • Preparation of payoff statements.
  • Submitting various documents to HUD for tasks that require HUD approval.
  • Maintain open communication with borrowers, HUD, and W&D production staff.
  • Assist in the automation of key functions of the servicing department as necessary.
  • Support senior staff for problem loan management and other non-routine matters.
  • Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travel.
