About The Position

The Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Iona University is seeking applications for a Hub Manager to operate the newly created New Rochelle Economic and Small Business Development Hub (Economic Development Hub). The Hub Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing the operations and programs of the Hub in downtown New Rochelle, NY. This position will report to the leadership team of the Hynes Institute at Iona University. The Economic Development Hub is a partnership between the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Iona University and the City of New Rochelle to support local entrepreneurs and small business owners, with dedicated programs aimed to support Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) and retail-based businesses. The programming will focus on 1:1 business counseling, workshops, networking opportunities and coworking spaces. This position is funded for an initial one year term, with renewal anticipated annually for a minimum of three years.

Requirements

  • BBA/BS in Business Administration, a related discipline, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in working with small businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Strong knowledge of and connections to the start up, entrepreneurship ecosystem in Westchester and surrounding community.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain relationships with multiple constituencies to support academic and community program development.
  • Management, mentorship and development of staff (including college students)
  • Experience in planning, organizing, promoting, and executing events.
  • Development and management of outreach and marketing efforts, including building and engaging communities on social media.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Hynes Institute leadership team to develop the Hub’s programming in alignment with goals for the Economic Development Hub.
  • Responsible for contract management, liaison to the City of New Rochelle, and quarterly reporting.
  • Managing the Hub’s team, including full-time coordinator and part-time business advisors, graduate students, and student interns.
  • Manage the Hub’s programs (1:1 business counseling, workshops, referral services, coworking, and events) and space on 10 Church Street.
  • Develop and manage marketing and strategic communication efforts in support of the Hub’s programs.
  • The Hub Manager will also serve as a business advisor and workshop facilitator based on expertise and as needed.
