About The Position

Kent is looking for an HSSE Advisor to be based in Baytown, TX. The role is responsible for ensuring the implementation of Kent's IMS HSE management system on the project, aligning with Government, Client, and Company requirements. The goal is to ensure the effectiveness of implementation to achieve HSE objectives and targets. The HSSE Advisor will collaborate with the Construction Manager, Lead HSSE Advisor, and the wider team to maintain high standards of HSE, comply with Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements, and take reasonable care of one’s own health and safety and that of others in the workplace, while maintaining Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality system requirements.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years related work experience.
  • BS in HSE and/or HSE qualifications recognized locally or internationally e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, BSC, IOSH, Industrial Safety diploma governed by respective national/state government organizations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Knowledge of local HSE regulations, client policies and procedures (added advantage).
  • Knowledge of internal/external auditing process (Lead/Internal Auditor – added advantage).
  • Knowledge of technical processes in industry.
  • Knowledge of case management.
  • Knowledge of the OSHA requirements, regulations, and standards.
  • Computer literate – proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint etc.
  • Investigation skills – root cause analysis.
  • Report writing, communication, analytical, presentation, inter personal and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Coaching & Influencing people.
  • Appraising/Evaluating/Developing.
  • Involvement with planning LAI potential work and WAME plans.
  • Development of HSSE training.
  • CPR/First Aid + AED
  • Strong communication skills are a must.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the company IMS HSE Management System within project alignment.
  • Perform HSSE oversight on Kent EPC projects in Baytown.
  • Ensure HSE inductions and orientations are carried out for all workers.
  • Effectively communicate all HSE documentation evolvement.
  • Develop and present safety meetings in front of large audiences.
  • Continuously strive to improve the Employees and Subcontractors knowledge and use of the Client’s behavior-based safety program and human performance principles.
  • Participate in audits and monitor follow up and close out of corrective actions for the findings raised during internal and external audits.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and practices and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Coach and assist field personnel to achieve a safe and healthy workplace and report findings to project management.
  • Ensure emergency response preparedness provisions / plans in place and awareness amongst site employees.
  • Active, daily field engagement with subcontractor staff and supervision.
  • Participate in and lead accident/incident investigation and reporting as necessary.
  • Ensure effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Advise/guide project management on selection, maintenance and inventory of personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinate job walks with leadership.
  • Manage the Short Service Worker program.
  • Participate in assessment of subcontractors to ensure proper selection and compliance with Kent HSE rules and regulations by subcontractors on projects.
  • Study trend analysis from accidents/incidents, audit finding and advise management on areas of improvement.
  • Assist and participate in project/office Risk assessments and reviews of WAME plans.
  • Assist the HSSE Manager as required.
  • Assist with development and/or revisions of SOPs as needed.
  • Develop and send Lessons Learned and/or Safety Flashes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on HSSE matters.
  • Prepare and send daily reports to the Construction Manager and Lead HSSE Advisor.
  • Handle project training needs and compliance.
  • Maintain inspections and records for tools and equipment on the project.
  • Assist with preparing monthly stewardship reports.
  • Perform environmental risk assessments.
  • Attend and participate in the Client’s monthly safety meeting.
  • Handle various atypical tasks with reference to our defined processes and procedures.
  • Serve as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Devise workarounds when immediate solutions are needed.
  • Observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; it’s clients and the governing authorities of the host country.
