About The Position

SMG is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG seeks an HSE Specialist/Owner's Rep in Kansas City, Missouri. The HSE Advisor will coordinate contractor work, conduct additional field audits, and support the HSE team’s efforts.

Requirements

Five years of construction safety experience.
Three-plus years of experience managing teams and departments, overseeing program execution, and holding program ownership.
Degree in safety or related fields.
Previous experience in safety leadership.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course.
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Conduct an initial project HSE gap assessment and priority risk review within the first two (2) weeks of assignment.
Perform and document daily field observations, including identification of significant findings, critical risks, and required follow-up actions.
Prepare and submit weekly written status reports summarizing key activities, leading concerns, open action items, incident and event status, and emerging project risks.
Review and provide documented feedback on high-risk work plans, permits, JSAs/JHAs, and energy isolation plans, as requested by the Project Team.
Track, communicate, and support closure of corrective actions identified through field observations, incidents, inspections, and project meetings.
Support incident and event investigations, including corrective action follow-up and development of lessons learned documentation.
Prepare a final project closeout report summarizing significant risks, key observations, major events, and lessons learned upon completion of the assignment.
