About The Position

ERM is hiring an experienced HSE Owners Advisor to provide on-site support for a key technology client’s data center development projects in Reno, Nevada. The role serves as an on-site resource supporting construction health, safety, and environmental compliance, with a primary focus on promoting safe construction practices and monitoring contractor compliance with project health and safety requirements. Environmental responsibilities include supporting construction compliance related to stormwater management, erosion and sediment controls, chemical storage, spill prevention, waste management, and applicable environmental requirements. The advisor conducts field observations and inspections, documents findings, identifies potential compliance concerns, and communicates observations to the client’s designated representative. The role does not have direct responsibility for managing contractors or implementing corrective actions; instead, it identifies risks and supports compliance throughout project delivery. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week, limited-term for six months, and extendable.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience supporting construction safety, environmental compliance, or EHS programs on large construction projects.
Experience conducting field inspections and compliance observations.
Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
Familiarity with construction stormwater management, erosion and sediment controls, and environmental compliance requirements during construction.
Strong written communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently in an active construction environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience in data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial construction.
CHST, ASP, CSP, or comparable safety certification.
CPESC, CESSWI, or related environmental certification.
Experience with SWPPP inspections and stormwater compliance programs.
Experience supporting owner-representative or embedded compliance programs.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine site inspections and field observations of construction activities.
Monitor contractor compliance with project safety requirements and applicable regulations.
Participate in daily construction coordination and pre-task planning meetings as needed.
Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task plans, and other safety-related documentation.
Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and communicate observations to the client representative.
Document safety observations, trends, concerns, and areas for improvement.
Support incident reviews, fact gathering, and documentation efforts.
Maintain project safety records and inspection documentation.
Prepare routine safety observation and compliance reports.
Conduct inspections to verify compliance with environmental requirements applicable to construction activities.
Monitor construction stormwater controls, erosion and sediment control measures, and site housekeeping practices.
Verify implementation and maintenance of best management practices (BMPs).
Monitor chemical and fuel storage, spill prevention measures, and hazardous-material management practices.
Observe waste management activities and identify potential compliance concerns.
Document environmental observations and communicate compliance concerns to the client representative.
Maintain records of environmental inspections, observations, and corrective-action status provided by others.
Support environmental incident documentation and reporting as directed by the client representative.
Verify implementation of environmental permit and approval requirements applicable to construction activities.
Maintain inspection logs, field notes, and compliance documentation.
Track observed safety and environmental issues through established project reporting processes.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly compliance summaries as required.
Escalate significant safety or environmental concerns to the client representative.
Support audits and compliance reviews by providing project documentation and field observations.
