About The Position

The HSE Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) activities during the night shift on a mining project in Wells, BC. The ideal candidate is a highly qualified HSE professional with recognized safety credentials and extensive experience in mining, construction, or heavy civil environments. This individual will be a visible presence in the field, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and site-specific safety programs while promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability. The successful candidate will have experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training. This role operates on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off FIFO rotation and requires the ability to work in camp environments. Requirements

  • Highly qualified HSE professional with recognized safety credentials
  • Extensive experience in mining, construction, or heavy civil environments
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training
  • Ability to work in camp environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead all night shift construction activities while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
  • Supervise field personnel, subcontractors, equipment operators, and trades across multiple work fronts.
  • Coordinate daily work plans, shift handovers, and crew assignments with the Construction Superintendent and day shift leadership.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and resource utilization to achieve project objectives.
  • Maintain a strong field presence through visible leadership and regular engagement with crews.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and leading by example.
  • Conduct field inspections, safety observations, toolbox talks, and workplace audits.
  • Review and verify Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures, permits, and critical lift or high-risk work plans.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Identify hazards and implement practical risk mitigation strategies before work begins.
  • Coordinate with HSE personnel to ensure site safety programs are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Complete daily shift reports, progress tracking, equipment utilization reports, and workforce documentation.
  • Support project planning by identifying schedule risks, resource constraints, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop supervisors, forepersons, operators, and field personnel.
  • Foster positive working relationships with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
