About The Position

The HSE Manager, Production will serve as the on-site HSE leader and trusted advisor to leaders and employees, championing a proactive safety culture focused on hazard prevention and supporting leaders in driving accountability for safety performance. This role involves implementing and sustaining HSE programs and systems, analyzing trends, and driving targeted improvement initiatives. The manager will also lead site-level safety initiatives aligned with company goals, ensure compliance with Alberta OHS and environmental regulations, maintain documentation, and complete required reporting. Additionally, the position acts as the site contact for inspections and regulatory agencies, leads incident investigations and root cause analysis, tracks trends, implements corrective actions, and oversees site inspections, audits, and hazard mitigation. The role also includes ensuring proper onboarding and ongoing HSE training, leading safety meetings, and promoting workforce engagement. Collaboration with cross-site U.S. operations to align best practices and participation in audits and continuous improvement initiatives are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of HSE experience in industrial, mining, or heavy operations, preferred
  • Site-based leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience with incident investigations and safety systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel occasionally
