The primary objective of the Inert Catalyst Health & Safety Manager is to ensure that catalyst handling and inert operations are planned, controlled, and executed safely, with particular emphasis on preventing incidents associated with oxygen-deficient atmospheres, confined spaces, hazardous materials, line-of-fire exposures, falls, and other high-risk activities. The HSE Manager will manage and coordinate Safety for Inert Catalyst operations within a client’s site to ensure all regulatory provisions and procedures are being applied. The HSE Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing activities associated with Inert catalyst, catalyst change-out, inert operations, confined space work, vessel entry, and refinery turnaround projects. This position provides field-based HSE leadership to ensure work is planned and executed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, OSHA regulations, applicable industry standards, and recognized refinery safety practices. The manager works closely with project management, field supervision, client representatives, and employees to identify hazards, implement effective controls, verify compliance, and promote a strong safety culture. The position required a strong understanding of nitrogen inert processes, oxygen-deficient atmospheres, catalyst handling, confined spaces, respiratory protection, fall protection, energy isolation, atmospheric monitoring, emergency response, and refinery operations. The HSE Safety Manager is responsible for the creation and implementation of the local HSE improvement plan and advises and supports site management and operational staff to promote employee health, safety, and environmental performance.
