Requirements

  • Prior experience in a safety role in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong customer focus orientation
  • Demonstrated success in delivering strong employee relations
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience monitoring HSE performance and programs
  • Ability to manage quality processes and motivate a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability
  • Comfort with Microsoft Suites, including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • French a must, English

Responsibilities

  • Monitors production floor activity and ensures plant personnel operate within prescribed safety guidelines and follow best practices for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Empowers colleagues to participate in safety performance by promoting the Human and Organizational Performance (Safety Differently) ethos to ensure learning is maximized in preference to discipline.
  • Carries out investigations from reported hazard and near miss reports and identifies opportunities for solutions to improve safety culture.
  • Ensures emergency protocols are in place and understood by all employees.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with HSE regulations and ensures adherence to GAP safety and environmental SOPs.
  • Facilitates and supports training and development to ensure colleagues are able to meet HSE standards, ensuring plant personnel are up-to-date on basic safety requirements.
  • Maintains safety documentation and records for plant personnel, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Partners with Regional HSE Specialist and site leadership to identify and mitigate plant risks, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Conducts safety orientations and walkthroughs for new hires, promoting a strong culture of safety from day one.
  • Monitors production floor activity enforcing Safety First compliance for all production employees.
  • Partners with plant leadership to execute health, safety and environmental initiatives, performs safety audits and Icare reporting, ensures adherence to GAP safety and environmental SOPs to comply with all corporate policies, goals and objectives.
  • Conducts Accident investigations and gathers all the info for ICare and CNESST reporting.
  • Monitors modified work plans, liaising with workers, supervisors, and healthcare providers to ensure a safe, sustainable return.
  • Ensures organizational adherence to CNESST policies and OH&S regulations.
  • Champions the 5S journey.
  • Executes all GAP (CHEP safety program) strategies and program initiatives.
  • Tracks performance on safety and reports to supervisors and management.
  • Supports and executes the training and development of team members to meet corporate health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintains safety documents for all shift personnel.
  • Participates in the safety committee and reviews all pending safety or environmental concerns, risks and develops mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Supports and at times leads group projects targeting safety systems and manufacturing improvements.
  • Works with HSE Supervisor and site leadership to address plant risks.
  • Performs orientation safety training and walkthroughs for all new hires.
  • Contributes to driving continuous improvement at the plant and strengthens internal policies, procedures, and systems around safety.
  • Assumes SSL responsibilities for respective shift.
