About The Position
The Des Moines Independent Community School District is seeking a HS Vocal Accompanist for the Activities Department. This part-time, exempt position involves playing the piano for the vocal department during rehearsals and concerts, preparing music in various styles, and maintaining sensitivity to ensemble needs. The role also includes notifying the director about piano tuning and maintenance, attending work regularly, maintaining confidentiality, and fostering positive working relationships. Requirements
- Experience accompanying a vocal ensemble.
- Ability to sight read vocal scores effectively.

- Degree in music, with an emphasis in vocal or piano performance.
Responsibilities
- Play piano for vocal department as needed in rehearsals and concerts.
- Prepare music in a variety of styles and genres.
- Maintain sensitivity to the ensemble needs.
- Notify the director when the piano needs tuning and maintenance.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
