Position Summary The High School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging science instruction aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards. The teacher creates a classroom environment where students develop scientific thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills while building a strong understanding of core scientific concepts. Teachers at Santa Fe South High School collaborate closely with colleagues, participate in coaching and professional learning, and work together to ensure all students are supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Science (or willingness/eligibility to obtain certification)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching high school science
  • Strong content knowledge in one or more core science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or Environmental Science)
  • Experience using student data to drive instructional decisions

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality science instruction aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning
  • Develop and implement laboratory experiences and hands-on learning opportunities when appropriate
  • Internalize curriculum and execute well-structured, bell-to-bell instruction
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction
  • Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and provide targeted support
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
  • Establish clear routines and expectations that create a safe, structured, and productive learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to support academic success
  • Encourage curiosity, perseverance, and a growth mindset in the study of science
  • Collaborate with science department colleagues and grade-level teams to strengthen instruction
  • Participate actively in coaching cycles, lesson internalization, and professional development
  • Contribute positively to a strong school culture grounded in high expectations and mutual support
  • Maintain professionalism in communication, attendance, and collaboration
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and professional learning opportunities
  • Support school initiatives and the mission of Santa Fe South Charter Schools
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
