This is a 1.0 Science Position at West Valley High School. The mission of the school is to partner with students, families, and the community to inspire, engage, and equip students with the necessary skills to achieve individual potential and become successful citizens. The role involves teaching all levels of science as assigned, including academic intervention classes for struggling students. Instruction should be dynamic, interactive, and hands-on, incorporating higher-level thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving methods. The teacher will maintain a positive learning climate, provide differentiated instruction, and develop relationships with students and staff. A willingness to teach an advisory period focused on SEL and post-high school plans is required, as is the integration of technology and development of reading/writing relevance within the curriculum. Teamwork and cooperation with colleagues, administrators, and paraprofessionals are essential. The position requires active participation in professional development and a commitment to supervising student activities outside regular school hours. Creating a culture of safety and belonging through daily routines and utilizing Universal Design for Learning strategies to facilitate student ownership of learning are key aspects of the role.
