About The Position
The Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is a vibrant, independent community school nestled on the east side of Columbus. ACPA is currently seeking MS/HS Substitute Teachers are willing to serve as daily and long-term Substitutes, as needed. Substitute Teachers are expected to model and uphold the school values of honesty, communication, problem-solving, kindness, respect for diversity, participation and awareness in all interactions with school stakeholders – including students, staff, caregivers, families and community partners. ACPA’s teachers have a profound impact on the lives of their students; when a teacher has a planned or unplanned absence, we rely on skilled substitutes to fill in. We’re currently looking for engaging, reliable substitute teachers for classes that range from 7th to 12th grade. Substitutes will cover for absent full-time teachers, adhering to the day’s lesson plan and ensuring that students have a fulfilling learning experience. The ideal candidate will have substitute-teaching experience and an ability to lead classrooms effectively. The most qualified and successful substitutes can count on consistent work from ACPA throughout the school year.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field; Bachelor’s degree in Education a plus.
- Current Substitute License through ODE or the ability to obtain a current license
- Ability to be available for last-minute coverage throughout the week.

Responsibilities
- Execute lesson plans consistent with teacher guidelines and school curriculum
- Create lesson plans if none are available (Long-Term Substitutes only)
- Record attendance according to school procedure
- Maintain discipline in the classroom and foster a safe, positive, & productive learning environment in accordance with school policies
- Provide supervision of students during class times, passing periods, and (depending on the schedule) during student lunch.
- Become familiar with school emergency protocols, such as fire drills and lockdowns
Benefits
- Daily Building Substitute Rate: $150 per day
- Long-Term Substitute Rate: $200 per day
