This role is for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator who will be responsible for site-specific safety, hazard identification, compliance monitoring, and training programs. The company utilizes AI tools for applicant screening and assessment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of safety construction experience
  • Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Working towards or already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site.
  • Holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
  • Completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for site specific safety including facilitating orientations, site inspections, review and filing of subcontractor’s pre-construction and weekly safety submittals and conducting / leading accident investigations when necessary.
  • Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures.
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution.
  • Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid.
  • Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
  • Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics.
  • Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.
  • Proactively identifying and preventing hazardous situations and taking necessary measures to rectify.
  • Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.
